Simon Hood Presents: 100 Paintings of Ringo Starr
“I figure that painting is a thing, right? Maybe it’s an important thing?
I figure that Ringo Starr is a thing, right? Maybe it’s an important thing?
These are the question I ask myself at night, and maybe a few other people trying to make art ask themselves the same thing. The man himself once said; ‘At the end of the day, I can end up just totally wacky, because I’ve made mountains out of molehills. With meditation, I can keep them as molehills’
Maybe this is what we can learn from Ringo Starr, maybe that’s all he has ever been. But maybe we’ve known that for a long time and him saying that makes the whole thing moot. It’s certainly a lot to speculate on. I think 100 times should do it.”

Simon Hood presents 100 Paintings of Ringo Starr, a body of work inspired by the metamorphosis of Richard Starkey who emerged from a year-long coma aged six with an interest in percussion, later becoming the lovable popstar drummer in The Beatles.
Simon Hood used to practice as a Ritual Magician but has renounced that to run his own country, The Democratic Republic of Free People(s) within his studio at Spike Island.
